Good Samaritan Hospital

Newlands & Company, Inc. recently finished an animated tour of MultiCare's new Patient Care Tower in Puyallup, Washington by Clark/Kjos Architects and Giffin Bolte Jurgens. The video was produced to showcase the new facility as it was being constructed. The hospital was animated in 3D Studio Max from interior and exterior models produced in Revit.

Portland City Model Upgrade

We took advantage of a slow month in the studio to upgrade our 3D model of Portland, Oregon.  For the first time, our model of Downtown has trees and buildings for the surrounding region enabling photo-realistic views in all directions. Using new LIDAR based footprint GIS data from Oregon Metro, we added over 600,000 building objects to our model covering the entire metro area from Forest Grove to Sandy.  Over 1,000,000 trees were added to the model to the model from aerial photos. We also upgraded the resolution of our background model everything that is visible from 9,000 feet above the city.

The NC3D Portland City Model is created in 3D Studio Max with Vray and ArcGIS and has been developed since 1992 from models and data donated by numerous architects and public agencies. The model can be licensed for use on design and film projects.

100 Multnomah

We recently updated these images of the 100 Multnomah project by Ankrom Mosian Architects for Trammell Crow Company.   The renderings show views from the project of Downtown Portland (our 3D model) and the project location adjacent to the Rose Quarter, Convention Center and I-5 freeway.   The renderings were updated from the grey massing models and lower quality vegetation that comprised most of our 3D model of Downtown four years ago to our recently improved buildings and landscapes.

OHSU Campus Model

NC3D recently completed detailed 3D models of Oregon Health Sciences University's (OHSU) Marquam Hill, South Waterfront and Schitzer campuses for a planning study by ZGF and PKA archiects.  OHSU is Portland's largest employer, and its main campus, "Pill Hill" is perched on a hilltop south of Downtown.  The complex topography, layers of buildings and maze of roads and pathways make this a perfect application for 3D visualization.   The model will be used for planning future phases of development on the hill.   And, as new buildings are designed, the 3D design data from those projects will be incorporated into the campus models.

The model was our first project to utilize LiDAR data to model buildings and topography on a large scale.  The point cloud data allowed us to accurately scale and locate building elements and trees. We used VRay Scatter to populate the hills with many thousands of trees. The final campus models were combined with our Portland City Model for local and background context.   The models were licensed to OHSU with the City Model as 3D Studio Max files and were also provided as interactive VR models using VR4Max.
